The Lord Is Manifested as Our Savior through the Preaching of the Gospel
When Jesus opens His mouth to preach, gracious words flow from His lips. The Scriptures are, indeed, fulfilled in your hearing (Luke 4:21–22). For Christ was anointed by the Spirit of the Lord “to proclaim good news to the poor,” “to proclaim liberty to the captives” and “to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:18–19). By this proclamation, Christ releases His people from captivity and gathers them to Himself in His Church. So it was when the Lord released His people from Babylon and returned them to Jerusalem. “Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people,” sanctified the whole congregation by the reading and preaching of the Law (Neh. 8:8–9). As the people then were urged to “eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready” (Neh. 8:10), so are you anointed by the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ to share in His feast and to serve the fellow members of His Body with His good gifts, “giving greater honor to the part that lacked it” (1 Cor. 12:12, 24).

On the cusp of this New Year, are you the type of person who likes to "fly by the seat of your pants" or do you prefer to plan? ran across an article by Scott Hubbard, managing editor of Desiring God magazine, that offers a very balanced view of planning in the life of a Christian. There are some things which we should account for in our planning, but there are many areas of life beyond our control, which by faith we leave in the hands of our gracious, sovereign God. Let me summarize here Hubbard's main points. There is nothing intrinsically wrong about planning. In fact, when we plan, we are imitating God, who declares in 2 Kings 19:25. The true God is not capricious, making it up as He goes how He will act. Nothing happens randomly in our lives, but according to His "definite plan" (Acts 2:23). One caveat remains: When we put too much faith in our own planning, we forget that we are mortal. Each of us needs to repeat: "I am not God." Here are Hubbard's five suggestions regarding "planning" in the life of a Christian:
We believe that Scripture teaches that the Lord's Supper is a precious gift of God in which Christ gives us His true body and blood (in a miraculous way), together with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of our sins and for the strengthening of our faith. If you are in agreement with this Communion statement, you are welcome to receive at the Lord’s Table with us here at Christ Lutheran Church.
Red wine or white grape juice, for those who cannot have the wine, during the sacrament of Holy Communion, white grape juice is also consecrated and used. This is available during Communion at both the 8:30 am and 11:00 am worship services.

Our church offers a meaningful Christian atmosphere for people with special challenges. The program has been running continuously for over 50 years. We offer weekly Bible school on Saturdays from 10 am to noon during the school year. Each week the program includes time for devotion, sharing through prayer , Bible stories, singing, activities, and a light snack. We also have a week long VBS for the class during the Summer.
Our church has a very active LWML group that meets monthly. Beforw COVID, each Spring, the group has their major fundraiser making thousands of chocolate covered eggs for Easter. While this is an LWML project most of the congregation comes out to help make the eggs. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to support good works locally as well as mission work in other countries. In addition to the local activities some members participate in regional and national LWML activities.

Evangelism Committee
In general, with GOD’s help and guidance, we do whatever it takes to grow the membership of Christ Lutheran Church! We are the face of the church!
The Evangelism Committee of Christ Lutheran Church is active in growing the membership of the church. We do this in many ways, some of which are: Go out into the community and places we live to introduce them to the church personally and greeting new visitors as they worship with us on Sundays. Follow up calls after their initial visit. Invite them to a one-on-one or couple-on-couple lunch for relaxing conversation and answer their questions. Work closely with the Pastor to introduce instruction classes for the new members. Integrate new members into the life and work of the church. Make sure that our Webpage, Facebook presence, Digital sign in front of church and our printed materials are in co-ordination with each other. Encourage and promote joint Ministries with other congregations in the area. With the help of the Pastor, we organize visitation of those that are shut-ins or sick.
Our church fellowship hall can seat 120 for dinners and the adjoining commercial grade kitchen has helped turn out many delicious meals. Our dedicated fellowship team keep things running smoothly for the various dinners, potlucks, workshops and other activities happening in our congregation throughout the year.
The fellowship hall is available to rent by contacting the church office.
Christ Lutheran Church has trained Stephen Ministers to walk alongside you during difficult times. Call the church office 302-629-9755 for more information on how we can help you.
